After completing your permit formalities, you will be received by my guide and driver.
In the evening you can take a leisure walk around pheuntsholing town and do some shopping.
Drive to Thimphu 180 km, the drive is 4.5- hrs). Thimphu is the capital of Bhutan and the centre of government, religion and commerce. it is a unique city with an unusual mixture of modern development along with ancient traditions. Thimphu maintains a strong national character in its architectural style, yet all modern facilities and services are available.
On arrival in Thimphu, you will be checked in a hotel. evening leisure or explore Thimphu city.
Overnight stay at Thimphu
After breakfast, you will visit the national Memorial Chorten (monument) located at the heart of the city, built in 1974 in the memory of our late, third king of Bhutan popularly regarded as the father of modern Bhutan. Later will visit folk heritage museum, dedicated to preserving Bhutanese folk arts and try the authentic Bhutanese food, shall then be followed by a visit to the school of arts and crafts, which is a living school for the traditional crafts in Bhutan
A scenic drive to Kuenselphodrang to see the 169-foot tall Buddha statue, one of the largest sitting Buddha statue in the world and enjoy the beautiful view of the whole Thimphu valley surrounded by mountains after lunch.
Takin preserve centre, home for the strangest looking creature (Takin) on the earth. Takin is the national animal of Bhutan, evening program shall end with a visit to Trashichho Dzong (fortress of the glorious religion) this fortress is the seat of the government, and now its houses the throne room and offices of his majesty the king, the secretariat and the ministries of home affairs and finance. this shall then be followed by a nice cup of coffee and a leisurely walk along the streets of Thimphu.
Overnight in Thimphu
After an early breakfast, we will hike to Taksang monastery (the tiger’s nest). it is a 2hrs hike from the base and is one of the most recognizable sites in Bhutan.
The journey starts under fine pine trees and is accessible horse till half way (optional) otherwise only by foot. We follow a trail decorated with colourful prayer flags along the way to protect travellers from evil spirits. it is a Buddhist temple enclosed by green valley and mountains and a waterfall. the trail passes from a prayer wheel, which is believed to send blessing to all the aesthetic life on earth.
Built on a hillside cliff, more than 10,000 feet above sea level stands the majestic Taksang monastery. One of the most sacred sites in Bhutan offers breathtaking views to those energetic enough to make it to the top. lunch shall be on the way back.
If energy and time permit you will end your days walking around and enjoying the scenic beauty of Paro town.
For those who prefer not to hike shall do the local sightseeing in Paro, visit Rimpong Dzong "fortress of the heap of jewels" the dzong now serves as the administrative and judicial seat of Paro.
After lunch we will visit Ta Dzong - a national museum with an excellent collection of arts, relics, religious and thangkas followed by visit Drukgyel Dzong & Kyichu monastery. you end your day having a quality time of your own.
